Food Insecurity - Online Roundtable

October 10, 2024, 12.00 – 13.30

via Zoom, Scotland

Access to food is a fundamental human right, as established by the United Nations. It is indisputable that food is vital for the enablement of healthy and active lifestyles, and must be available, accessible and adequate.

However, despite the necessity of food, it has been estimated that 17% of working-age adults lived in households with marginal, low or very low food security, with those in relative and severe poverty more likely to experience food insecurity. Children are more likely than adults to experience food scarcity; 22% of all children in Scotland live in households with marginal, low or very low food security.

To assess how this food insecurity has impacted women and families, the SWC are hosting an online roundtable on the Thursday 10th of October at 12pm to 1:30pm. Please attend to share your views surrounding food access in Scotland and what could be put in place to reduce food scarcity.

Remember we are also holding roundtables on Child Poverty and Health Inequalities, which you can find out more about on our events page

These events are for women only to attend.
