International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated globally on the 8th of March every year, and as such we hold an event to gather women from a diverse range of cultural and social backgrounds in celebration.

For over 10 years, we have held this event at the Scottish Parliament, with each year focusing on a specific theme.  There are over 300 attendees, who get to hear from inspirational speakers, participate in discussions and network with a range of women.

Below you will find a summary of our most recent IWD event, including some great photos of the day!

IWD 2023

On Saturday, 4th of March, we held our annual IWD celebration in parliament from 2pm-4pm, chaired by Alison Johnstone, Presiding Officer.  This event brought together women from across Scotland, in-person and online to celebrate and discuss this years SWC theme 'Break the Bias', while also marking the 20th Anniversary of the SWC.

The full event is available on the Scottish Parliament TV Archive or we have a copy of our Agenda Brochure from the day.
