International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated globally on the 8th of March every year, and as such we hold an event to gather women from a diverse range of cultural and social backgrounds in celebration.
For over 10 years, we have held this event at the Scottish Parliament, with each year focusing on a specific theme. There are over 300 attendees, who get to hear from inspirational speakers, participate in discussions and network with a range of women.
Below you will find a summary of our most recent IWD event, including some great photos of the day!
IWD 2025
On Saturday the 8th of March, we held our annual IWD celebration in the Scottish Parliament, with Presiding Officer, Alison Johnstone MSP, chairing the event. The day saw women from across Scotland, in-person and online, gather to celebrate and focus on this year’s SWC theme, ‘Women Say: Gie’s Peace’. Attendees heard from speakers who discussed women’s vital role in peace making processes and the need for a more peaceful society.
