Child Poverty - Online Roundtable
October 3, 2024, 12.00 – 13.30
via Zoom, Scotland
Current child poverty rates are unacceptable; 240,000 children live in relative poverty after housing costs and 210,000 children live in absolute poverty. Of these children, more than two thirds live in a household where at least one member is in full or part-time paid work and 10% experience material deprivation.
To reduce these figures, the Scottish Government have maintained a commitment to anti-poverty measures, focusing on child poverty. However, we know that this is largely fuelled by the continued employment-based discrimination against women, directly impacting children’s access to essential resources.
We are therefore inviting women to attend our online roundtable on Thursday 3rd of October between 12pm and 1:30pm, to provide their views on Scottish Government approaches to child poverty and what they think is needed to reduce the continued disadvantage faced by children and women across Scotland.
Remember we are also holding roundtables on Health Inequalities and Food Insecurity, which you can find out more about on our events page.
These events are for women only to attend.
