‘Equal Pay Guide for Women’

The Scottish Women’s Convention launched its ‘Equal Pay Guide for Women’ on International Women’s Day, 8 March 2007. All women should read this guide!

It has been more than 30 years since the introduction of the Equal Pay Act and many women are still working for less than their real worth. In Scotland the gap between women and men’s earning can range from between 12% to 40%, depending on where women work. When Barbara Castle, steering the passage of the Equal Pay Act over 30 years ago said - ‘Never let them tell you that now is not the time for Equal Pay’ - she was right. Women should not and cannot wait any longer for equal pay. That is why the SWC has launched this equal pay guide for women in a format that is clear and concise. The guide will provide valuable information and contact details for women who believe that they are receiving unequal pay.
